HELiPRO's pilots have been involved in some of New Zealands most high profile search and rescue operations. Recent searches have seen the companies senior pilots involved in the search for diver Robert Hewitt missing off the Kapiti Coast. Another search without such a happy ending was that for beer baron Michael Erceg. This search was conducted over several weeks and employed a large number of aircraft and the use of our stabilised thermal imaging camera.
One of the most high profile rescues undertaken by the company involved HELiPRO CEO Rick Lucas. First on the scene to the Dash 8 Crash not far from Palmerston North in Tararua Ranges. This crash occured on the 9th of June 1995 and Ricks actions on the day earnt high praise and a commendation from the New Zealand Police.
